Branded Pharmaceuticals

In July 2006, Impax Laboratories launched Impax Pharmaceuticals as the Company’s branded products division. Impax Pharmaceuticals is a neurology-focused, specialty pharmaceutical company, dedicated to developing products for unmet needs in the treatment of Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders. These disorders include Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, attention deficit disorder, migraines, depression, schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease.

Through a strategic partnership with Shire Pharmaceuticals, in July, 2006, Impax Pharmaceuticals launched its specialty sales force of 66 representatives to promote Carbatrol® (carbamazepine extended release capsules) for the treatment of epilepsy and trigeminal neuralgia. This is a significant milestone for Impax in establishing the company’s name within the neurology market, providing pertinent product and information to support the neurology community in the care of epilepsy patients.

According to Wolters Kluwer Health data, CNS (USC 64000) is the largest therapeutic category in the US with 2008 retail sales of $50.5 billion, or 13.6% of the $372 billion US retail drug market.

The executive management team of Impax has extensive experience developing and marketing products for CNS disorders. The Impax strategy is to build the product portfolio primarily through internal development, as well as licensing and acquisition. We intend to utilize our expertise in drug delivery technologies to offer innovative products in the neurology specialty arena.
